Al Benkula

It's been almost a full year since the Lord took Al home. It's also taken that much time for me to blog about his passing. This man was an inspiration and joy to have in our lives. I have tons of great stories to tell as do most everyone who knew him. The years will be different without him around, but not different in a bad way. When events bring back memories, they're all good memories. Pretty cool if you think about it. Christy and I still pray for "daddy" just because he is a soul more than worth praying for and a man with integrity and heart filled love for everyone he knew. And some he didn't. Al touched lives like a breath of fresh air. He was someone you enjoyed being around, all the time. He probably knows now just how many lives he touched. I know God is asking him a few questions about the times he had me do his work. In the casino pit he said "I don't really understand this, can you do it for me?" He did this all the time. So, I did his work and mine. He was so convincing. I never got a cut of his paycheck either. But I did learn to use this "method" later on in my life. It works, well. I could go on forever, it seems, about the life and times of Al Benkula, but this isn't the place. Keep him in your heart as you read this as I will, till I go home to the Lord.

May God Bless Al Benkula

Happy New Year 2009
Well, we made it another year. I wanted to make sure that I got a post in before the date changed. Phil and Miki will be coming up this month on the way to see Phil's mom. They'll hang with us for a day and then head up to northern Idaho. Hopefully they'll spend a night on the way back. I got all the Christmas decorations down an put away in about 3 hours today. I don't like taking them down so soon, but it's nice to have a day off to do it. Christy had to work about 4 hours today. No bad, at least she got to work. 2008 was a pretty rough year. The Lord took  Al "daddy" Benkula home and it was hard. This is the first time that I have really blogged about it. I'll leave his picture on our web site till we go home to the Lord. He was a very special father, husband and mentor. I will hopefully get more posts in for the year. Till then have a Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas
I know it's been almost a year since I posted, but I'm going to try and fix that this year. Christy and the kids are out running around on Christmas day to see all the family that's in town while they are in town. If that makes sense. The snow is really coming down and it's "supposed" to be 38 degrees outside. I took some pictures from the my computer room upstairs. Been awhile since we have seen this much at one time. We had a good Christmas Eve service at our church last night. Bear gave another good sermon. We'll, Merry Christmas and I hope to blog during the rest of this year.
Happy New Year 2008
Just a quick note to wish everyone a Happy New Year. Christy and I hung out with Jeff and Mechelle till we couldn't hold our eye's open (roughly 10:15 p.m.). Then Christy and I laid on the couch till about 11:15 p.m. and she took off to bring in the New Year with Ma & Pa Fivas. I stayed home and slept through it all. BUT, I don't have a hang over this morning either. Well, gotta go. Breakfast is waiting.
Congratulations to Phil & Miki!
Well my buddy finally found a hot chick in Vegas and married her. She is awesome! Lucky man. Check out the photos I posted of the wedding. Over a hundred of them. What a great time and a great wedding. I was lucky to be the best man. An honorable title in the Barker’s wedding. Hard to believe there is a Mr. & Mrs. Barker now. I can tell you right now these two were hand made by God for each other. You can see it and feel it. Thanks for having the Vaughns’ over and we will all have a great life together. Cool…

I'm writing a quick post to my blog just because of today's date. July 7, 2007 - Yep 7-7-7. I noticed this when I was correcting the date on Christy's phone. It's getting late, gota go!
Happy 4th of July
Well, I have a day off in the middle of the week and it's too hot to go outside. Even at 10:30 in the morning! Just thought I would wish every body a Happy 4th of July.

Sorry about the web site being down this last week. I finally figured out that I have a splitter thats bad and my internet signal was week. I hope you noticed the web cam picture on the front page. Kinda neat. You can always see the current weather conditions and temperature. Hopefully I'll get a live stream up and running. Thanks for posting all the pictures. Beautiful babies! The Altoids Can

This is a little video that Andy and I made one day at work. We knew Mike always ate an Altoid. Well, while he was out on his route we made this little movie and then emailed it to him right after we saw him eat an altoid. You should have seen the expression on his face.
